Advisory Board for People With Disabilities
| promotes increased public awareness of the specific needs and rights of people with disabilities. The board makes recommendations to the City Council regarding issues confronting people with disabilities. The board meets on the first Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the 1st Floor Conference Room and is composed of eleven members who are appointed for three-year terms.

Airport Authority
| has jurisdiction over the operation, maintenance and improvements to the Boca Raton Airport. The Authority is composed of seven members, all of whom are representatives of different entities as specified in the State legislation creating it. The membership consists of: three (3) members from E-I-95; one (1) members from W-I-95; two (2) members from the County and one (1) member at large. The term of office is two years and meetings are held once monthly, usually on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber.

Beautification Committee
| The Beautification Committee is comprised of resident volunteers and its mission is to promote higher standards of landscape design, encourage an increase in the City's tree canopy, and to educate residents in the proper selection, pruning and care of trees. Sponsored programs are: the Shade Tree program, Annual Landscape Awards, the Fall Flowering Tree & Plant Sale, plus various proper tree care pamphlets & activities.
The committee itself is very informal in that members are not appointed by the Council. The beautification Committee meets twice monthly in City Hall and citizens are invited to attend and participate.

Builders' Board of Adjustment & Appeals
| upon appeal by a petitioner, the Builders' Board may grant a variance from the building code, in any particular case when enforcement would be contrary to the spirit and purpose of the building codes or public interest. Meetings are called on an as-needed basis. The board is composed of nine members with specific qualifications. Members serve four-year terms.

Citizens' Pedestrian & Bikeway Advisory Board
| provides citizen input into the implementation of a pedestrian bikeway program. The seven members are appointed for three-year terms. Meetings are held on the second Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the 1st Floor Conference Room of City Hall.

Civil Service Board
| hears appeals of employees in the classified service who have been suspended, demoted or terminated from employment, according to the regulations governing such appeals. Three of the members are appointed by the City Council, and two are elected by City employees to fill three-year terms. The Board meets at the call of the Chairman.

Code Enforcement Board/Special Master
| conducts hearings related to enforcement of various fire, building, zoning, sign and other codes of the City, in order to protect and improve the health, safety and welfare of the citizenry. The Code Enforcement Board and Special Master members must meet specific qualifications. Term of office for the Code Enforcement Board is three years. The Special Masters serve a term of two years. Code Enforcement meets quarterly usually the third Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.. Special Master meets twice monthly.

Community Appearance Board
| meets weekly (Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m. in the Community Center Silver Palm Room West) to review plans or exterior alterations of buildings, other than single-family homes, to ensure conformity with established standards. Signs, billboards and landscaping come under close scrutiny by this Board to ensure the aesthetic quality of the City. Members must possess specific qualifications. City Council appoints the members for two-year terms.

Community Relations Board
| encourages mutual understanding and respect among all groups and ages in the City. The Board discourages prejudice, intolerance, bigotry, discrimination and disorder, and gives effect to the guarantee of equal rights for all its citizens under the Constitution and the laws of the State of Florida. The nine members are appointed by the City Council for three-year terms. Meetings are held monthly on the 3rd Monday at 6 p.m. in the Police Services - Detectives Conference Room.

Downtown Visions Committee
| The Committee is comprised of individuals appointed by City Council, that have an interest in the beautification and rehabilitation of the downtown infrastructure identified in the Visions 90 Capital Improvement Program. The Committee's primary responsibility is to disseminate and coordinate information about the Visions 90 projects to the public. Other responsibilities include parking, traffic, maintenance and other downtown development matters referred to the committee by the Community Redevelopment Agency.
Anyone having an interest in the development of downtown is invited to attend the Committee meeting which are generally held Quarterly at 5:30 p.m.in the First floor conference room at City Hall.

Education Advisory Board
| makes recommendations to the City Council regarding actions that may be taken in support of educational facilities and programs within the City. This board has a membership of twelve (12) members; three (3) of which are students "ex officio". Members are appointed for three-year terms. Meetings are held monthly at 5:45 p.m. on the 4th Monday in the First Floor Conference Room.

Environmental Advisory Board
| The Environmental Advisory Board was created by the City Council in 1980. The function of the Board is to provide advice to the Planning & Zoning Board and to the City Council on the environmental impact of proposed development, including public works, within the City's jurisdiction, and to recommend ways in which adverse environmental impact might be minimized. The Board is composed of five members who are appointed by City Council for a term of two years. The board meets on the third Thursday of each month as needed at 7:00 p.m.

Executive Employees' Retirement Plan
| Created by Ordinance No. 4745 and adopted by Council in November 2003 for executive employees of the City of Boca Raton, this Plan is to provide certain retirement and death benefits to eligible employees of the City. The Plan consists of two (2) voting members appointed by the City Council; and two (2) voting members appointed by the City Manager and shall be members of the Plan, provided that said members need not be residents of the City; and the City Manager, or his/her designee in an ex-officio non-voting capacity. The Term is two years. Plan meets as needed.

Financial Advisory Board
| conducts ongoing, selective review of the annual budget and capital improvement programs. The Board also reviews and make recommendations on the rates and fees charged for City services. Members must have expertise applicable to municipal finance. The seven members are appointed for three-year terms. Meetings are held on the third Monday of the month, at 5:00 p.m. in the First Floor Conference Room.

General Employees' Pension Board
| duties include the interpretation of the provisions of the plan, the determination and certification of amounts of all retirement allowances and the authorization of all payments from the fund. Four of the eight trustees are appointed by the City Council and four are elected by City employees to serve three-year terms. Meetings are held on the Second Thursday of the month at 3:30 or 4:00 p.m. in the First Floor Conference Room.

Historic Preservation Board
| promotes the educational, cultural, economic and general welfare of the City through the preservation and protection of sites and districts of historic interest. The Board also strives to preserve and protect the significant architectural phases of the community. Five of the members are at-large appointees of the City Council. The other two members consist of one member of the American Institute of Architects; and the president of the Boca Raton Historical Society or his/her designee. This board meets on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 5 p.m. in the First Floor Conference Room.

Housing Authority
| organized in 1978 to provide safe and affordable low income housing in the City. The five commissioners must be residents of the City or engaged in business in the City, and one must be a resident of one of the subsidized housing projects. Members are limited to serving two subsequent four-year terms. Meetings are held at Banyan Place on the last Wednesday of the month at 5:30 p.m.

Library Advisory Board
| makes recommendations to the City Council concerning the management and operation of the City's Library. The seven members are appointed for three-year terms and meet monthly on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 4 p.m. at the Library.

Marine Advisory Board
| was established February 27, 2001. There are 7 members. The Marine Advisory Board meets on the 1st Wednesday of each month at 7:00pm in the Municipal Services, 1st Floor Training Room. The Marine Advisory Board is to advise the City Manager on issues relating to the City's Waterways and marine issues including but not limited to speed zones, environmental issues, at bridges, recreational facilities, dredging etc.

North Federal Highway Steering Committee
| The North Federal Highway Steering Committee was created in August 2003 with the adoption of Resolution No. 147-2003. This Committee was created to assist the City in the development of the North Federal Highway Master Plan. The Committee is made up of eight (8) members appointed by Council. The Committee meets at the call of the chairman.

Parks & Recreation Advisory Board
| studies and makes recommendations concerning development, operation, management, control and maintenance of all parks, playgrounds, and other recreational facilities of the City; studies and recommends reasonable rules and regulations; studies and recommends all charges and fees related to City recreational facilities; and makes recommendations for improvements to existing facilities as well as for providing new parks and recreational facilities. The seven members are appointed for two-year terms. The Board meets monthly on the 1st Tuesday of the month at varied locations.

Pearl City Blue Ribbon Committee
| City Council approved a Master Plan for the revitalization of the Pearl City area on November 28, 2000 and this Plan will be implemented over a number of years. Therefore, the City Council deemed it necessary, appropriate and in the public interest to establish a Pearl City Blue Ribbon Committee to advise the City Council and the City staff regarding the implementation of this Master Plan. The nine member committee serves for terms of 3 years and was appointed on February 13, 2001. The committee meets the fourth Thursday of each month at the Lois Martin Community Center in Dixie Manor.

Planning & Zoning Board
monitors and oversees the effectiveness of the Comprehensive Plan. The Board holds public hearings twice monthly (every other Thursday) in the Council Chamber to hear all matters pertaining to development within the City and makes recommendations to the City Council. The seven members serve three-year terms.
These meetings are telecast live on Channel 20, and begin at 6:30 p.m.

Police & Firefighters' Pension Board
| duties include the interpretation of the provisions of the pension plan; the determination and certification of amounts of all retirement allowances; and the authorization of all payments from the pension fund. The membership consists of four City Council appointees, two police officers and two firefighters. The police officers and firefighters are elected by their peers. Members are appointed for two year terms. The board meets on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 3:00 or 4:00 p.m. in the First Floor Conference Room.

Telecommunications Advisory Board
| advises City Council on issues relating to use of the City's cable television channels. The seven members serve three-year terms. The board meets on the first Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the First Floor Conference Room.

Zoning Board of Adjustment
| has the power to hear and decide any question involving the interpretation of any provision of the Code upon appeal from a decision of the Zoning Administrator. The Board may grant variances from the strict application of the requirements of the zoning code. The City Council appoints the seven members for three-year terms. Knowledge of the Comprehensive Plan and familiarity with the building and zoning codes is desirable.
