The Boca Raton Fire Rescue Honor Guard Team was established in September 1992 with eight charter members. These members were privileged to receive instruction in marching drills and maneuvers by sergeants of the US Third Army Infantry Honor Guard. The protocols they shared and the procedures in Army Field Manual 22-5 provide the foundation and the guidance the team uses for drill and ceremony.
The Team has evolved over the years into an award-winning unit that has gained State and National recognition. The Honor Guard placed 1st in the Fire Rescue East Regional Competition for 3 consecutive years from 1996 to 1998. Additionally, the Honor Guard Team competed one time at the National Fire Department Instructor’s Conference and placed 2nd in 1996. In the 2001 Regional, the Team placed 3rd and in 2002 the Team moved up to second place in the same competition. Since then, the Team has continued to participate in these competitions and has consistently placed for the top three awards.
In 2009, the Team expanded with the induction of the Pipes & Drums Section. Two original members still play for the corps and the section has grown to a six-member team. These dedicated men work closely with and compliment the Honor Guard; all of them proudly represent the City of Boca Raton at ceremonial events, dedications, holiday parades, sporting events, and memorials throughout the State.
Currently, in this our 20th year of service, sixteen men and women continue a proud tradition in performing Honor Guard services for the Fire Department. These members, along with the Pipes & Drums section, bring Honor, Grace, and Respect to each occasion and ensure that no tribute or loss is forgotten.
We recognize each member of the Boca Raton Fire Rescue Services Honor Guard and Pipes & Drums Team for their devotion to duty and dedication to their brother and sister fire fighters.
