Boca Raton Florida's East Coast is known for its most priceless treasure ---a  two-mile stretch of lifeguard-protected beaches.  This pristine beach area, isolated and serene, provides recreational use for the thousands who wish to spend time at the ocean or enjoying the various sand dunes spotted with sea oats and sea grapes.  Lifeguards “man” the beach 7 days a week, year-round, from 9am to 5pm. Three City parks---Spanish River, Red Reef, and South Beach----are connected to the miles of beaches and provide such amenities as playgrounds, restrooms, grills, and picnic tables.  A fourth park, South Inlet, managed by Palm Beach County,  is also located on Boca Raton’s oceanside.

For those wanting to watch the waves “live” before heading to the beach area, a high-resolution, time-lapse system webcam is located at South Beach Park Pavilion (East Palmetto Park Rd & A1A).  Upon entering the website, information is provided regarding beach conditions, water temperatures and weather reports via weather station WS1080, with updates every few minutes.

Although most beach visitors enjoy swimming and beach lounging, provisions are also available for volleyball games, along with recommended areas for canoe/kayak launching, surfing and snorkeling.  For the physically-challenged beachgoers, a beach wheel chair is also available.
