Citizens Police Academy

If you are interested in learning about the Boca Raton Police Services Department, you are invited to participate in our upcoming Citizens Police Academy. This 11-week program, which is free of charge and open to the public, will start on Thursday, January 12, 2012 and will run until March 22nd.  Classes will be held each Thursday evening from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm and will be located at our police training facility (6500 Congress Avenue) or the police department (100 NW 2nd Avenue), depending upon the topic. Topics will range from hands-on demonstrations about the use of laser and radar units, Tasers and the deployment of stop sticks to learning how cases get investigated including crime scene techniques such as evidence collection. Learn about our latest technology, training and what our officers do to serve you on a daily basis. Each student will also be allowed one four-hour ride along session with a road patrol officer.

To apply, complete the Citizens Police Academy application to start the process (apply here). Class will be limited to the first 25 accepted applicants. If you have any questions, you may contact Mary Ann OBrien at 338-1346.

Note: Applicants are subject to a background check prior to acceptance in the Citizens Police Academy.

For questions, please call the volunteer coordinator, Mary Ann OBrien at 338-1346.
