School starts Monday, August 18, and advanced planning can make great memories for you and your kids. Avoid unnecessary stress.

  • Plan and drive your route to school in advance, especially if it is your first visit.
  • Be aware of school zones and school buses on/off loading children.
  • Some schools are located in residential neighborhoods, so please be considerate by not dropping off your children in the roadway or on someone’s lawn.
  • If you walk your child into the school, make sure your take your belongings and lock your car.
  • While on campus, follow directions to ensure the safety of everyone moving about.

A one day survey, conducted by the Florida Department of Education in April 2012, showed that more than 21,000 drivers illegally passed a stopped school bus.

Each illegal pass-by could result in a tragic injury or fatality of a student. Please view our video to learn the rules regarding when you should stop for a school bus.
