Two arrested for armed burglary
Boca Raton, FL On Monday, August 1, at shortly before 10:00 p.m., Boca Raton Police officers responded to a residential burglary at 1061 NW 6th Street. Casey Gunnell told officers he received a call from his wife who said a neighbor had called her and said that two males were breaking into their house. Gunnell, who was at a nearby restaurant with a friend, hurried home. When he arrived, he saw that the front door to his home was ajar. Gunnell called 911 then went around to the back of the house after he heard the back patio door slam. His friend, who followed him from the restaurant, ran around the other side of the house. Gunnell saw two males jump over the fence enclosing his backyard.
One male, identified as a juvenile, hid under the friend's car. The other male, later identified as Vladimy Dormeus, ran north through the neighborhood. Officers took the juvenile into custody and searched the area for Dormeus. The juvenile told officers they approached the house because it appeared no one was home and after knocking, both entered through the unlocked front door. The juvenile said he was the lookout while Dormeus searched the house, armed with a bb gun. When Gunnell arrived home both suspects ran from the house.
Officers found Dormeus a short time later, when a resident saw him walking in the area and thought him suspicious. The neighbor identified Dormeus as the person he saw at Gunnell's front door. Officers recovered electronics and jewelry belonging to Gunnell on the east side of the home and in a neighbor's yard.
Both Dormeus and the 14 year old juvenile were charged with armed burglary to a residence and grand theft.
