Convicted felon arrested for possessing and shooting an AK-47

Boca Raton, FL – On Monday, February 8, 2010 at just before 8:00 p.m., officers from the Boca Raton Police Services Department, responded to a report of shots fired in the area of 299 Lancaster Street.

When officers arrived, they discovered several shell casings and a bayonet sleeve on Nottingham Road and a bullet in the grass a few feet away.   There were no reported injuries.  They spoke with the resident at a nearby house who told them they saw a black pickup truck, occupied by a white male juvenile, stopped in the street.  The witness said when she walked toward her front door, she heard what sounded like a brick or rock hit the truck.  After she went inside, she heard several loud shots nearby, and tires screeching as the truck drove off.

After speaking to several residents, Boca Raton investigators and officers developed information which led them to the suspect, who lives at 151 Manchester Street.  Detectives obtained a search warrant and at about 8:00 a.m. this morning, members of the Boca Raton S.W.A.T. Team executed the search warrant.  The suspect, Steven Feldman, was arrested inside the residence without incident.  An AK-47, a bayonet, and two rifle magazines, one which contained twelve 7.62 caliber bullets, were recovered inside the residence.

Feldman is charged with discharging a firearm (an AK-47) and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and altering or removing of a firearm serial number. Karen Seel, Feldman's mother, was also arrested and charged with accessory after the fact, for trying to conceal Feldman's crimes, and contributing to the delinquency of a child.
