Alert neighbors prevent burglary
Boca Raton, FL – On Monday, February 28, at about 7:20 in the morning, Boca Raton Police officers responded to a report of a male trying to break into a vacant residence at 701 NE Lakeview Terrace.
The witness told officers she was walking her dog with several other neighbors, when she saw a male walk onto the property of 701 Lakeview Terrace. The witness said they walked around to the front of the property and looked through the front window. She said the suspect, later identified as Damion Baker, was facing the rear window and appeared to be tampering with the window. Baker saw the witness watching and walked off the property. The witness spoke with Baker and asked what he was doing and he replied he was looking at the lake.
Officers later checked the window of the residence, which appeared to have been damaged. They also spoke with the realtor and owner of the property who said when the property was check two days prior, there was no damage and no one had permission to be on the property. Officers searched the area and located Baker at 2600 North Federal Highway. Baker admitted to being on the property, but said he did not try to break in. The witness identified Baker as the person she saw trying to break into the house.
Officers arrested Baker and charged him with attempted burglary.
