Castaways wash up on Boca beach

Boca Raton, FL – On Tuesday, November 15, at 6:20 in the morning Boca Raton Police officers received a report that two people in a small dingy washed up on shore at 750 South Ocean Boulevard.

Officers arrived on scene and found the dingy and two men, identified as Michael Ayres and Steffon Moore. The men were treated at the scene by Boca Raton Fire Rescue and then transported to Boca Raton Regional Hospital.

Ayres told officers he and Moore left Islamorada on Saturday, November 12th, just after noon and were heading to Bimini. Ayres added that at some point late Saturday evening, the boat began to take on water and after several hours they had to abandon ship. Ayres said they were able to gather some supplies and set off in the lifeboat. After spending several days at sea, they washed up on shore. Barring any additional information, members of the Boca Raton Police Services Department have concluded their involvement in this incident.
