Police investigating attack at City Park

Boca Raton, FL – On Thursday, January 28th at about 6:30 p.m., officers from the Boca Raton Police Services Department, responded to a report of a battery that occurred at Red Reef Park, 1400 North Ocean Boulevard.

When officers arrived they met with Ruby Williams who said she had been attacked outside the public restrooms.  Williams said she and her husband arrived at the park at about 6:15 p.m.  Williams said her husband went down to the water and she went to use the restroom.  Williams said the door to the restroom was locked and she was walking to an attached office when she was pushed from behind.  Williams fell forward onto the pavement.  As she tried to get up, she heard someone yell a racial epithet at her.  She turned around and saw two young males, one white and one Hispanic.  The males dragged her several feet on the pavement and then kicked her.  The suspects ran off without taking anything.

Williams sustained several lacerations and contusions and was brought to the Boca Raton Community Hospital.  We are actively investigating this case as a hate crime.  If anyone has information about this incident, they are asked to call Detective Scott Hanley at (561) 338-1344 or Palm Beach County Crime Stoppers at (800) 458-TIPS.

Suspects:  #1 W/M about 20 years old   #2 Hispanic male, about 20 years old
