Boca Raton, FL On Monday, June 28 at about 12:45 a.m., Boca Raton Police officers responded to a report of businesses burglaries at 1906 Clint Moore Road. The crimes were discovered and reported by a Broken Sound security guard, Jesse Lehman, while he was on routine patrol.
The suspect smashed out the front glass doors of the Dunkin Donuts, Lucky Express, and Renzo's Café and he targeted cash registers. He may have injured himself, since blood was found inside all of the businesses.
The cases were immediately assigned to Boca Raton detectives. The detectives viewed surveillance video from the Dunkin Donuts, which showed the suspect break the front door with an unknown tool, crawl through the door and pry open the register. Crime Scene Technicians processed the scene and recovered several latent prints. The prints were analyzed by a fingerprint technician and were subsequently identified as belonging to Michael Stewart Clay through the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS).
Stewart was arrested and is charged with multiple counts of burglary, grand theft, and criminal mischief. Boca Raton detectives are also working with detectives from several other agencies who have experienced similar crimes. Stewart may be facing additional charges.
