Couple charged after lying about a robbery
Woman claimed purse was snatched at 5th Avenue Shops
Boca Raton, FL – On Wednesday, February 10th, Shiva Karimi-Busheri told Boca Raton Police officers that someone snatched her purse from her on Monday, February 8th, while she was at the 5th Avenue Shops, 2000 NE 5th Avenue. She initially told police that she was in front of Sally Beauty Supply at about 11:00 p.m., when a white male grabbed her right arm from behind, turned her around, and grabbed her purse off of her arm. After the suspect took her purse, he ran behind the shops. Ms. Karimi-Busheri said that since she didn't have many valuables in her purse, she initially didn't feel it was necessary to notify the police.
On February 16th, while investigating the alleged robbery, Boca Raton detectives confronted Shiva Karimi-Busheri and her boyfriend, Justin Bokhoor with inconsistencies in their stories. They eventually admitted to making up the robbery to avoid the cost of replacing an airline ticket because of a missed flight. Busheri was arrested for false report of a non-existent crime and Bokhoor was charged with one count of giving false information to a law enforcement officer during an investigation.
