Detectives nab CVS robbery suspect

Boca Raton, FL – On Saturday, April 21, at about 7:15 in the morning, Boca Raton Police officers responded to a robbery that occurred at CVS, 2390 North Federal Highway.

Officers met with the clerk who told them that at about 7:00 a.m., a male entered the store and attempted to purchase a Snickers bar. When the male got to the register he said he didn’t have any money and had to go get his wallet. The suspect was wearing a black baseball cap, a green Coleman rain jacket, grey and white striped pajama bottoms and white sneakers. Several minutes later, the suspect re-entered the store and again went to the register to purchase a Snickers bar. While the clerk was ringing up the candy bar, the suspect put his hand in his pocket and made a pointing gesture at the clerk, and said, “Give me the money in the register.” The clerk asked him what he meant and he replied, “Give me the money in the register or I’ll shoot you.” After the clerk gave him about $73.00, the suspect walked out the door and went north on Federal Highway.

The K-9 unit responded and tracked north to the apartments at 2500 North Federal Highway. Boca Raton Detectives arrived on scene and when they reviewed the surveillance video, realized the suspect looked like Douglas Wrigley, who lives at 2500 North Federal Highway. Detective Clare put a photo line-up together and it was shown to the clerk, who identified Wrigley as the probable suspect. Detectives set up surveillance around the apartment building and at about 4:00 p.m., Wrigley walked outside, wearing a black baseball cap and green Coleman rain jacket. Detectives approached Wrigley and asked if they could speak to him. Since it was raining, they suggested speaking inside Wrigley’s apartment, to which he agreed. Once inside the apartment, detectives immediately saw grey and white striped pajama bottoms and a Snickers wrapper. Wrigley asked to speak with Detective Clare privately and confessed to robbing the CVS. Wrigley told Detective Clare that he did not use a gun but only had a pen in his pocket.

Detectives arrested Wrigley and charged him with robbery.
