Woman distracted, home burglarized
Boca Raton, FL – On Monday, July 15, Boca Raton Police were called to a residence in the 7800 block of Fairway Trail after the resident discovered a burglary.
The victim told officers that earlier in the day, between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m., an unknown male knocked on her door and said he was a contractor installing a new fence at her neighbor’s house and wanted to show her where it was going to be placed. The victim went outside with the suspect, who kept her talking for about 15 minutes in the side yard. She didn’t notice anything was amiss for several hours, but when she went into the spare bedroom, she noticed one of her jewelry boxes was in the wastebasket. She retrieved the box and immediately realized that her jewelry was missing. After scanning the room, she discovered it had been searched and most of her jewelry and cash was taken.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male about 35 years old, 6’ tall, thin build and wearing glasses. No suspect vehicle was seen in the area during the crime.
