Two busted for using fake credit card at Apple Store

Boca Raton, FL – On Friday, August 9, at 5:05 p.m., Boca Raton Police responded to a fraudulent credit card transaction at the Apple Store, 6000 West Glades Road.

Officers met with an Apple Loss Prevention Officer (LPO) who told them that he was alerted to a suspicious transaction when a male, later identified as Anthony Baker, tried to purchase four 5s iPhones and two 128GB iPads, but the credit card was declined. Baker also presented a fraudulent Pennsylvania driver’s license. As the LPO watched the transaction, he noticed another male, later identified as Cordarell Senatus, continuously looking around the store and standing near Baker. When the credit card was declined, Baker asked the sales clerk where the nearest Wells Fargo Bank was so he could get cash. Baker left the items on the counter as he and Senatus left the store, with the LPO following.

Officers approached Baker and Senatus a short distance from the Apple Store. Senatus told officers Baker and he drove a rented Dodge to the mall and allowed officers to search it. Inside the vehicle, they found an American Express activation form addressed to a female named Susana.

Baker told officers when he checked the mail at his brother’s house on Wednesday he found a letter from Wells Fargo Bank addressed to Pedro Ramos which contained a Visa card. Not knowing anyone named Pedro Ramos, he decided to keep the Visa card and make a driver’s license using the same name. On Friday afternoon, he saw Senatus at a friend’s house and asked him to drive him to Boca Raton. Senatus told officers he agreed to drive Baker to Boca Raton in exchange for gas money. Senatus denied knowing what Baker was doing and any knowledge of the American Express document found in the car.

Officers charged Baker and Senatus with organized scheme to defraud, grand theft, fraudulent use of a credit card, and credit card forgery. Baker was also charged with possession of a counterfeit driver’s license; Senatus was also charged with principle in the first degree since he drove Baker to the mall to commit the crimes.
