Boca Raton Police Tac Team arrests fleeing suspect
Boca Raton, FL – While conducting undercover patrols around the city, a member of the Boca Raton Police TAC Team observed the driver of a Dodge Charger cut off another motorist while accelerating from a red light around the 1300 block of North Dixie Highway. The officer started following the vehicle when the suspect took off, making a series of turns down side streets in an attempt to flee from the officer.
A few minutes later a resident called the Boca Raton Police and said she saw someone pull into her neighbor’s driveway at 271 NE 26th Street, get out of the car and jump the fence. A perimeter was quickly established in the area. While processing the abandoned car, a canister was found inside the center console that tested positive for cocaine. At the same time, another officer realized the car was the same rental car that he had stopped a week earlier. The officer made contact with that person, who lived a couple of blocks away from where the car was abandoned. The subject, Mark Breckenridge of 2733 NE 2nd Avenue, said he let someone borrow the car, but only knew him as Blaine. He said Blaine came to his house about ten minutes earlier and asked for a change of clothes.
At the same time, another officer on perimeter saw a subject walking out of the backyard directly behind Breckenridge’s house. The suspect was stopped and positively identified as the person driving the car. Once in custody, Blaine Wiggins admitted to officers he was driving the car and knew the cocaine was in the center console. Also on the backseat of the car was a flat screen TV he said was his cousins, but he refused to identify his cousin.
As a result, Wiggins was charged with Fleeing & Eluding, Possession of Cocaine, and Driving with a Suspended License.
