Harold's Jewelry robbers charged
Boca Raton, FL On Saturday, August 7 at 7:30 a.m., three armed gunmen robbed Harold's Jewelers, 2200 West Glades Road. During the investigation, detectives developed a suspect, Demitria Thompson, who they later arrested and interviewed. Thompson admitted to her involvement in the robbery and the theft of a 1995 beige Honda taken from 1 Town Center Road, the day before the robbery. Thompson told detectives that a male named Tamulia Pope was also involved in both aforementioned crimes.
Surveillance video was obtained from the BP gas station, 5440 West Glades Road, where the stolen Honda was abandoned on August 6. When Boca Raton detectives reviewed this video, they discovered the suspect who left the Honda looked very similar to Tamulia Pope. Detectives obtained search warrants for cell phone records belonging to Thompson and Pope. These records showed that both cell phones were activating on a cellular tower located at 5150 Town Center Road, during the times of both the auto theft and the robbery.
Based on this information, detectives applied for a warrant for Pope. On October 28, the warrant was issued and Pope was charged with armed robbery with a deadly weapon and grand theft auto. Pope is currently in the Miami-Dade County Jail on unrelated charges.
Detectives have charged Thompson with conspiracy to commit armed robbery.
