Boca Police K-9 catches suspect breaking into home

Accomplice arrested, admits to other burglary

Boca Raton, FL On Wednesday, September 15, around 6:00 pm, residents on Newcastle Street noticed a suspicious suspect walking around the house of a neighbor who was out of town. They watched the suspect go from the driveway to the patio area and enter 721 Newcastle Street through a window. They immediately called the Boca Raton Police Services Department.

Within minutes, responding officers had the house surrounded. As Officer Mercer and his K-9 Czita were entering the home, a Boca Raton Police Officer saw the suspect trying to escape through a window in the back of the house. The officer ordered the suspect to get on the ground, but instead the suspect went back into the house, where he met Officer Mercer and Czita. The suspect, David Henson Julien, Jr., complied with commands and was taken into custody. While being handcuffed, Julien uttered that he broke into the home because he needed money. While searching Julien, officers found a small baggie of pills later identified as Oxycodone.

Earlier in the day there was a similar incident. Melissa Dee called Boca Raton Police to report that a stranger entered her home at 5750 NE 7th Avenue, while she was home. Julien later admitted he entered the home and was scared off when confronted by Dee. She described the suspect as a black male with the same clothing that Julien was wearing while committing the burglary on Newcastle Street. Through the course of the investigation it was determined Julien did not act alone and was accompanied by Ernest Dessources. Dessources told investigators he was with Julien in the house on NE 7th Avenue and stole a laptop, an iPod and a digital camera.

As a result of both investigations, David Henson Julien, Jr. was charged with one count of Burglary and Possession of Oxycodone, along with Burglary of an Occupied Dwelling and Grand Theft. Dessources was charged with Burglary of an Occupied Dwelling and Grand Theft.
