Suspect arrested for LA Fitness locker thefts

Suspected in gym burglaries in multiple jurisdictions

Boca Raton, FL For many months, someone has been breaking into lockers at LA Fitness facilities throughout South Florida, stealing money and property from workout enthusiasts. That quickly came to an end thanks to members of the Boca Raton Police Services Department's Tactical Team. The break came with information received from PBSO regarding a similar theft in their jurisdiction. The theft occurred on August 26, 2010 when the victim was working out at the LA Fitness at 1925 North Military Trail in West Palm Beach. The victim entered the locker room and saw a male searching through his property in his locker. The suspect fled when the victim confronted him. The victim chased the suspect into the parking lot and was able to identify the tag on the thief's blue Toyota Camry.

Information from PBSO'S burglary was put out in a BOLO and on August 30, 2010, an alert Boca Raton Tac officer saw the same car and tag enter the LA Fitness at 4950 Technology Way in Boca Raton. Approximately an hour later, the manager of LA Fitness contacted Boca Raton Police to report that someone broke into a customer's locker. Officers located the suspect in the locker room and arrested him.

Jeremiah Jean was charged with burglary and theft for the August 30 burglary in Boca Raton. Jean is also suspected in other LA Fitness thefts throughout Palm Beach and Broward Counties.
