Man tries to shoot his ex-girlfriend
Boca Raton, FL On Thursday, July 21, at about 7:25 in the morning, Boca Raton Police Officers responded to a report of a male who had fired a gun into an occupied residence at Mizner Court Condominiums, 6503 North Military Trail.
Andrea Miller, the victim, and her boyfriend Kunta Kinte Riddick, told officers that Dalis Bell, Miller's ex-boyfriend, had been calling her since shortly after 5:00 a.m. Riddick had seen Bell at a club in West Palm Beach earlier in the night, but they did not have any interaction. Miller briefly spoke with Bell when he first called, but she eventually turned the ringer off on her phone and did not speak to him again.
At shortly after 7:00 a.m., Miller and Riddick heard a loud knocking on the front door, but did not open it because the peephole was covered. When they did not open the door, Bell kicked it open and entered the apartment. Riddick wrestled Bell to the ground and checked to make sure he did not have any weapons. Miller told Bell to leave, which he reluctantly did, but as he ran away he said, I got something for you. Riddick followed Bell to the parking lot and saw him open the passenger door to a burgundy Oldsmobile and retrieve an unknown object. Riddick fled from the scene. Bell then returned to the stairs leading to the apartment and as Miller was closing the front door, Bell fired a round from a handgun. The shot went through the door and past Miller's head. Miller was not injured.
The driver of the Oldsmobile picked up Bell as he ran from the apartment building. Boca Raton detectives tracked Bell to Port St. Lucie. Bell was arrested without incident by deputies of the Port St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office.
Bell is charged with attempted first degree murder with a firearm, burglary with assault/battery, and felon in possession of a firearm.
