Fake Cop arrested for DUI and pulling motorists over

Boca Raton, FL There were some scary moments for a couple of motorists driving in Boca Raton Thursday night when they were pulled over by someone claiming he was a police officer. The fake officer was asking the drivers if they had any alcohol or drugs in the car. When they said no, he told them to leave, but the victims knew something wasn't right and called Boca Raton Police.

The phony cop was driving a white Ford Crown Victoria with dark tinted windows, similar to police officers drive nationwide. However, the flashing emergency lights were green, not red and blue. The person claiming to be the officer, Andrew Novotak of Delray Beach, was wearing a police type badge around his neck and carrying a loaded Glock 9mm handgun in a holster on his waist.

When officers arrived, Novotak still had his green lights flashing. He told officers he had a police trained K9 in his car and was a private investigator. Officers saw a large black German Shepherd in the back seat of Novotak's car. While being questioned, Novotak first said he was cut off, then said someone struck his car. The whole time officers smelled a strong odor of alcohol coming from Novotak.

Novotak was arrested and charged with Impersonating a Law Enforcement Officer and DUI. Tips on what to do in this type of situation can be found at:
