Purse snatching duo arrested
Boca Raton, FL An anonymous tip led to the arrests of two individuals responsible for a number of purse snatchings in the City of Boca Raton and an attempted purse snatching in Broward County. The tipster said they overheard two individuals talking about a purse theft committed at the Barnes & Noble on Glades Road on August 15th. The tipster said the two individuals responsible were staying at the Deerfield Beach Motel and were driving a blue Honda Civic with a Florida tag of G112XF, the same car seen leaving the Barnes & Noble.
Detectives from the Boca Raton Police Services Department, along with investigators from the Broward County Sheriff's Office (BSO), located the vehicle at the motel. BSO deputies pulled over the car later in the day after it left the scene of an attempted purse snatching at the Publix Supermarket at Hillsboro Boulevard and Federal Highway in Deerfield Beach. The two individuals, Kenneth Trent and Brandon Graese, were interviewed by Boca Raton Police and BSO detectives. Trent confessed to a series of similar purse snatches to fund a relapse since being evicted from a drug treatment program. He explained the two would look for individuals whose purses were left unattended.
Trent and Graese were both charged with Grand Theft. BSO also charged the pair with three counts of Grand Theft for purse snatchings at Bru's Room on the beach and at Publix at Hillsboro and Federal Highway.
