Tactical Team recovers drugs and stolen property during stops

Boca Raton, FL – On Tuesday, October 2, at around 10:30 a.m., members of the Boca Raton Police Department’s Tactical Team were conducting surveillance in the Bank of America Plaza, 4100 North Federal Highway. They saw a maroon Cadillac enter the parking lot and park in the rear, away from the entrance. About 15 minutes later a red Nissan entered the plaza and parked next to the Cadillac. The driver of the Nissan, later identified as Gerald Macera, got into the backseat of the Cadillac where he stayed for a couple of minutes. Macera got back into the Nissan and left.

Several officers followed Macera and pulled him over for a traffic violation. Macera told officers he had purchased two Oxycodone pills from the two males in the Cadillac. Officers located one partially burnt Oxycodone pill wrapped in aluminum foil in the center console. Officers arrested Macera and charged him with possession of a Schedule II drug and possession of paraphernalia.

Meanwhile, officers followed the Cadillac as it left the parking lot. They noticed neither the driver, Oscar Albert, nor the passenger, Mackenzie Delmas, were wearing seat belts. Officers stopped the vehicle and made contact with Albert, who told them he does not have a driver’s license. Officers were able to detect the odor of marijuana from the vehicle and when they searched it, they found the remainder of a marijuana cigarette on the floorboard between the front seats. On the floorboards of the backseat, officers found a black and gold bag which contained a large amount of jewelry and a white plastic bag which contained a large amount of gold jewelry. They also located a window punch and black gloves in a pocket on the rear of the front seat. In the trunk of the car, officers found a 37” television.

Albert told officers he bought the jewelry and TV from a male he knows as “Mike” and tried to sell the TV to Macera. Albert also told officers he suspected the merchandise was stolen, but did not steal it. The investigation revealed on Friday, September 28, there was a burglary to a residence on East Country Club Boulevard, during which a 37” TV and a large amount of jewelry was stolen. The burglary victim later identified the black and gold bag and all the jewelry, as well as the TV as belonging to her.

Officers arrested Albert and charged him with driving without a license, grand theft for being in possession of suspected stolen property, dealing in stolen property and possession of burglary tools. Delmas was charged with possession of marijuana.
