Students report suspicious incident involving armed suspect
Boca Raton, FL On Thursday, February 17 at about 3:30 p.m., Boca Raton police officers responded to a report of a suspicious incident near Boca Raton Middle School, 1251 NW 8 Street.
Two students from the school told officers that around 2:20 p.m., a group of students were on school grounds near the fence separating the school from Meadow Reach Apartments. They saw an older model red or maroon sedan drive through the parking lot of the apartments occupied by three or four black males in their late teens. Some of the students began to hoot and holler at the
people in the car. One of the males in the back seat hung his arm out of the car and was holding what appeared to be a handgun. The male told the students he was going to kill them all but never pointed the gun at the students. The vehicle then left the area.
One witness described the male holding the gun as bald. A second witness said the male had dreadlocks. Officers and detectives spoke to people in the area and checked the surrounding apartment complexes. The surveillance video provided by the school showed a red vehicle but detectives were unable to ascertain the make or model of the vehicle or see the occupants.
If anyone has information about this incident, they are asked to call Detective John Moran at (561) 338-1315 or Palm Beach County Crime Stoppers at (800) 458-TIPS.
