Boca Raton, FL – On Tuesday, October 1, at about 10:40 a.m., the owner of Boca Sign Works, 174 Glades Road, called the Boca Raton Police Department to report a burglary to a company vehicle.
The owner told officers that she noticed a Dewalt drill and miter missing from the bed of the company pickup truck that was parked in front of their business. She checked their surveillance video and saw that at about 10:00 a.m., a male removed the items from the bed of the truck and threw them in the hedges on the east side of the parking lot. When the owner checked the hedges, the tools were gone.
On October 4, the owner called police and said she saw a male who looked like the male seen stealing the power tools. Officers located a male matching the suspect’s description and questioned him. The male denied any involvement and when shown a picture of the suspect from the surveillance video, told officers it was his brother, Tashane Chantiloupe.
Detectives began investigating and discovered Chantiloupe had pawned a Dewalt miter saw on the date of the burglary at 10:40 a.m. at a nearby pawn shop. The victim was able to identify the saw as belonging to her business. The owner of the pawn shop identified Chantiloupe as the person who pawned the saw. Chantiloupe was also identified through the fingerprint he provided to the pawn shop.
Boca Raton detectives arrested Chantiloupe and charged him with burglary to a vehicle, grand theft, dealing in stolen property, and false verification of ownership.
