Three more potential burglars arrested
Boca Raton, FL – On Wednesday, August 22, at about 1:10 p.m., members of the Boca Raton Police Department’s Tactical Team were patrolling the residential areas near 400 NW 12th Avenue due to recent residential burglaries in the area.
A resident in the area called about a suspicious cream-colored Lincoln about the same time that an officer saw the vehicle approaching the stop sign on NW 4th Street and 12th Avenue. The vehicle failed to stop at the stop sign and the officer initiated a traffic stop as it was caught in heavy traffic. Officers spoke with the driver, Desmond Paul, front passenger, Turner Gary, and rear passenger, Daquan Davis. While speaking to the occupants, the officer could smell the odor of marijuana emanating from the interior of the car. The officers had all three men get out of the car and as they did so, the officer saw a spring-loaded window punch lying on the floor between the passenger seat and the door. Officers also found marijuana on the floorboards by the passenger and driver seats.
All three men gave different accounts of what they were doing in the area. Officers contacted the owner of the vehicle by phone and he said he had loaned his car to someone other than the three occupants, but didn’t wish to pursue theft charges against them. Officers arrested all three and charged them with possession of marijuana and loitering and prowling. Paul was also issued several traffic citations.
